Ces ruisseaux alimentent Lausanne en eau et font office d&rsquo;\u00e9gouts. Ces rivi\u00e8res ont fini par poser probl\u00e8me, \u00e0 cause de leurs crues &#8211; celle du Flon tout particuli\u00e8rement &#8211; et pour des questions de salubrit\u00e9. Au XIXe si\u00e8cle, suite \u00e0 des \u00e9pid\u00e9mies de chol\u00e9ra (1822), de typhus et de paludisme, les autorit\u00e9s d\u00e9cident de vo\u00fbter et de canaliser la Louve et le Flon. En 1840, la place de la Riponne recouvre la Louve. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/musees.lausanne.ch\/SGCM\/Consultation.aspx?id=119278&amp;Source=panier\">https:\/\/musees.lausanne.ch\/SGCM\/Consultation.aspx?id=119278&amp;Source<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La construction du vo\u00fbtage de la Louve a d\u00e9but\u00e9 en 1812 depuis la place P\u00e9pinet vers la Riponne. Celle du Flon d\u00e9bute en 1832 pour se poursuivre au-del\u00e0 des ann\u00e9es 1960 dans la partie haute de sa vall\u00e9e, \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 de la Sallaz. En 1874 commencent les travaux de vo\u00fbtage et le comblement du Flon sous Montbenon, depuis sa jonction avec la Louve. Les d\u00e9p\u00f4ts au fond ont \u00e9t\u00e9 consrruits en pr\u00e9vision du complement avec trois \u00e9tages en sous-sol.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Le remblaiement de la plateforme du Flon commen\u00e7a d\u00e8s 1873 pour se terminer vers 1915. La Ville de Lausanne poss\u00e8de des cartes historiques, dont elle a publi\u00e9 sur internet les cartes de 1723, 1806, 1838 , 1896 et 1912 pour consultation. Un pont de Montbenon, un peu \u00e0 l&rsquo;amont du Pont Chaudron, existe sur les cartes de 1806 \u00e0 1896, mais n&rsquo;existe plus sur celle de 1912.
